Al Sharqiyah South Municipal Council reviews development project

SUR: The Municipal Council of Al Sharqiyah South Governorate on Tuesday held its fourth regular session of 2026, chaired by Dr Yahya bin Badr al Maawali, Governor of Al Sharqiyah South and Chairman of the Municipal Council.
The council reviewed the latest updates on development projects across the governorate, as well as a number of proposals submitted for the development of the ferry terminal waterfront in the Wilayat of Masirah. The council also examined a proposal for the rehabilitation of Al Shamikhiya Camel Racing Track in line with approved safety and quality standards, a step designed to support this authentic cultural heritage and enhance its presence as a promising cultural and economic asset.
The council also hosted representatives from Compass Company, who delivered a presentation on the experience of creating a pedestrian-friendly walkway for people with disabilities, along with a proposal concerning disability classifications within the Social Protection Fund. - ONA
