MUSCAT: Oman’s national U-17 football team began a new internal training camp on Monday evening at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, as part of its build-up for a demanding run of regional and continental competitions later this year.
The camp, which continues until May 1, forms an important stage in the team’s preparation programme ahead of three major assignments: the Arab Cup in August, the West Asian Championship in September, and the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers scheduled for the end of November.
The Oman Football Association has mapped out an intensive preparation plan aimed at raising the team’s technical and physical readiness, with the national junior side looking to gain valuable experience and compete strongly across all upcoming events.

National U-17 head coach Ahmed bin Salim Bait Said has called up 26 players for the current camp. The squad includes Sulaiman bin Khalifa al Mafarji, Sultan bin Mohammed al Balushi, Mohammed bin Sultan al Rahbi, Nayir bin Said Bait Ardeen, Saad bin Mohammed al Sinaidi, Al Mulham bin Mahmoud al Sulaimi, Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Kazrouni, Abdulrahman bin Mohammed al Harrasi, Mohammed bin Khalid al Maqbali, Abdullah bin Mohammed Bait Ali Issa, Ahmed bin Shihab al Mukhaini, Nader bin Hamid al Nubi, Bashar bin Badr al Shamsi, Ahmed bin Khamis al Masoudi, Mohammed bin Majid al Balushi, Abdulrahman bin Suhail al Hashmi, Ghaith bin Matar al Toubi, Rakan bin Badr al Jabri, Saif bin Ahmed al Jabri, Abdulrahim bin Abdullah al Tuwairshi, Jassim bin Mohammed al Dawood, Mohammed bin Manea al Omrani, Mohammed bin Qasim al Mahrouqi, Al Hussein bin Saleh al Ajmi, Jihad bin Abdullah al Shukaili and Abdullah bin Ali al Farsi.
The technical staff will use the camp to further improve the players’ fitness levels, tactical understanding, and overall match readiness. It also comes shortly after the team’s previous gathering, which was held from April 16 to 20, giving the coaching staff another opportunity to monitor player development and strengthen team cohesion.
Bait Said and his assistants are expected to focus on building harmony among the players, applying selected tactical plans and improving individual technical skills, as Oman seek to prepare a competitive squad capable of delivering positive results in the coming months.
