Muscat sees 661 cases of residential fires in 2025: CDAA

Muscat: The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) said that misuse of electrical appliances, negligence, poor installations, and overloading of electrical circuits are among the most common causes of residential fires in the Sultanate of Oman during 2025.

In a recent report, 1,714 cases of fires in residential facilities were reported in various governorates, including 661 incidents in Muscat. The capital has the most cases due to an increase in population and high urban density.

Other causes include the misuse of cooking gas, neglect, leaving flame sources unsupervised, and children tampering with it.
