Al Tooqi stole limelight at equestrian championships

 

MUSCAT: The Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation (OERF) concluded recently prestigious championships at Al Rahba Olympic Equestrian Ground, attracting the participation of more than 200 riders across various age categories including both male and female competitors. The finale highlighted the federation’s ongoing commitment to developing equestrian sport in the Sultanate of Oman, providing a competitive platform for riders of all levels while promoting the Olympic pathway for emerging talents.
The event featured several competitions, with the spotlight firmly on the Grand Prix Championship, one of the oldest and most respected equestrian titles in Oman. First launched in 1983, the Grand Prix has a long-standing legacy and has been won by many top riders representing different stables over the decades.

This year’s Grand Prix final took place over two days, on April 21 and 22, delivering high-level competition and thrilling performances. Oman’s Olympic rider Sultan al Tooqi emerged as the champion, securing the prestigious title with an impressive performance aboard his new stallion, Hall Diamont Kalla.
The horse, a promising nine-year old, is the son of the internationally renowned sire Diamant de Semilly, one of the world’s leading show jumping bloodlines. The victory not only marks a significant achievement for al Tooqi but also signals the emergence of a new Olympic prospect for Oman.
At the end of the event, the chief guest Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamakhalif the General-Secretary of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), delivered the awards to the top winners.
