Report: Iran's Araghchi to return to Islamabad before Russia trip

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to return to Islamabad as diplomatic efforts to resolve the Iran conflict continue, state media reported on Saturday.
Araghchi will travel back to Pakistan before heading to Russia, state news agency IRNA said, citing the foreign ministry's schedule.
Part of the minister's delegation has temporarily returned to Tehran for consultations and is due to rejoin him in Islamabad on Sunday evening.

No official reason was given for the renewed trip.
Pakistan has been acting as a mediator between Iran and the United States, seeking to facilitate a second round of talks.

Hopes for progress had risen on Friday after Araghchi arrived in Islamabad and the White House said it would send a delegation there on Saturday.
However, Araghchi departed shortly afterwards, and US President Donald Trump later called off the planned visit by his special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner at short notice. Trump cited excessive travel time and what he described as an unacceptable proposal from Iran.
