MUSCAT: Wheat harvesting has commenced in the Wilayats of Al Kamil W'al Wafi, Sur and Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, marking the start of the 2025/2026 agricultural season.
Ali bin Salim al Hashimi, Director of the Department of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in Al Kamil W'al Wafi, said the total cultivated area reached 41 feddans, with expected production exceeding 50 tonnes, depending on seed varieties.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources continues to provide technical and advisory support to farmers, applying international standards to ensure quality and sustainability. Efforts include promoting best agricultural practices, supplying improved seeds and modern machinery and facilitating post-harvest processes to maintain product quality for market delivery.
The Ministry has also supported farmers by providing harvesting equipment to streamline operations and improve efficiency. The use of modern systems has contributed to higher productivity and strengthened agricultural sustainability across the governorate. — ONA
