MUSCAT, APRIL 17
Oman’s Under-17 national football team has begun an internal training camp at Seeb Sports Stadium as part of preparations for three key assignments later this year.
The camp, which runs until April 20, is being led by national coach Ahmed bin Salim Bait Said and marks the first phase of the team’s build-up for the Arab Championship in August, the West Asia Championship in September and the AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers in late November.
The current gathering serves as the starting point of the preparation programme, with the technical staff focusing on laying the physical and technical foundations of the squad ahead of a demanding period of competition. The camp will also provide an opportunity to assess the players closely and identify the most suitable options for the next stage.
Special attention is being given to building understanding among the players, particularly as this is the team’s first assembly, while the coaching staff also works on introducing the playing style and tactical approach it aims to implement in the coming months.
A total of 26 players have been named for the camp: Abdullah bin Khalid al Zaabi, Jihad bin Abdullah al Shukaili, Abdullah bin Fahm al Shihi, Sultan bin Mohammed al Balushi, Nahidh bin Shihab Bait Jamil, Salim bin Masoud al Alawi, Mohammed bin Suleiman al Kazrouni, Al Mulhim bin Mahmoud al Salimi, Said bin Basim Said, Haitham bin Adil al Hosni, Ahmed bin Shihab al Mukhaini, Abdullah bin Mohammed Ali, Abdullah bin Mohammed al Obaidani, Nader bin Hamad al Noobi, Hamza bin Said al Jabri, Ahmed bin Khamis al Masoudi, Hassan bin Karim Bakhsh al Balushi, Ziyad bin Hamad al Salmi, Ghaith bin Matar al Toobi, Rakan bin Badr al Jabri, Saif bin Ahmed al Jabri, Abdulrahim bin Abdullah al Tuwairshi, Jassim bin Mohammed al Dawood, Mohammed bin Mani al Amrani, Mohammed bin Qasim al Mahrouqi and Al Hussein bin Saleh al Ajmi.
Through the camp, Oman will aim to shape a strong and cohesive side capable of competing well across all three upcoming tournaments and delivering results that match the national team’s ambitions.
