MUSCAT: As many as 16 football teams comprising both Omani and expatriate teams will join the third Soccer Carnival Season, a celebration of the national game, at the Bausher Club Stadium on April 16 and 17.
Touted as the Sultanate of Oman’s largest Sevens Football Tournament, held in collaboration with the Kerala Muscat Football Association (KMFA), this Soccer Carnival is also the tournament offering the highest prize money in Oman.
Besides Omani players, former ISL player Sushanth Mathew, Rashid Kottakkal and actors Lukman Avaran, and Diana Hameed are expected to attend the two-day football extravaganza in Oman as guests of honour. Entry is free for the event, which combines football matches with a variety of food stalls and cultural programmes, according to the organisers.
Organised by ‘Me Friend’ with an intention to bring nights of excitement to football fans in Oman, the Soccer Carnival Season 3 is designed to be more than just a football tournament; it is envisioned as an event that families and friends can enjoy together.


“The intense competition featuring 16 of Oman's top sevens football teams will kick off with matches up to the quarter-finals on Thursday, April 16, at 10 PM. The semi-finals and the grand finale will take place on the second day, Friday, April 17,” said Afzal Ahammed, Resident Manager, Madhyaham, and Anjab Ameer, Convenor of the Soccer Carnival.
“A plethora of entertainment programmes and competitions will take place at the stadium starting from 3pm. They include games for women and children, quizzes, face painting, and shootout competitions and winners of spot contests will also receive exciting prizes on Friday,” Shaiju Salahudeen, Marketing Manager, Gulf Madhyamam, Mobin K Shaji, Media and Marketing Manager, Nesto Hyper Market Oman, and Mohamed Usman Fazil Operations Manager, Foodlands Restaurant, who are event supporters of the two day football extravaganza said.
Organisers further said that a major highlight of the carnival is the extensive food court being set up at the stadium. Spectators will have the chance to enjoy a wide variety of flavours, ranging from traditional local dishes to diverse international cuisines.
“Around 20 stalls will be featured, including live counters by leading restaurants in the Sultanate of Oman. Adding to the festive spirit, there will be food stalls led by women’s collectives from Muscat, as well as stalls for chocolates, fancy items, and mehendi. These two days and nights, blending sporting passion, music and food, promise to be a grand celebration for the both Omani nationals and expatriate communities in the Sultanate of Oman.” they added.
