MUSCAT: Dhofar Municipality will shift the issuance and renewal of advertising permits to its electronic platform from April 12, 2026, in a move aimed at improving service efficiency and speeding up procedures.
The municipality said the step comes as part of its efforts to strengthen digital transformation and modernise service delivery.
Under the new system, all applications related to advertising permits will be processed online through the municipality’s electronic platform. The service will cover a broad range of commercial and promotional advertisements.
These include advertisements placed on vehicles, such as commercial vehicles and display units in front of shops, as well as advertisements installed on buildings, including rooftops, walls and canopies outside commercial premises.
The online service will also cover service-related advertisements such as food menus, directional boards and posters, in addition to promotional advertisements linked to discounts, special offers, publications and printed materials.
Dhofar Municipality said the digital transition is intended to raise work efficiency, simplify procedures, and provide easier access to services for businesses and advertisers.
