Haj tickets made more affordable for Omanis

MUSCAT: The Oman Haj Mission has unveiled a series of innovative measures and improvements to ensure a smoother, safer and more comfortable pilgrimage experience for Omani pilgrims during the 1447 AH Haj season.
Speaking at a meeting with Haj operators, Ahmed bin Saleh al Rashdi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and Head of the Oman Haj Mission, said the mission has worked closely with Saudi authorities to streamline land transport.
“Omani buses will now efficiently ferry pilgrims to two key transfer points before licensed Saudi buses complete the journey to Mecca and the holy sites,” he explained, highlighting solutions designed to reduce logistical and financial challenges for Haj operators.
Al Rashdi announced a new intelligent tracking system for buses, providing real-time updates on their location. “This system allows us to respond instantly to any emergency, ensuring the safety and peace of mind of our pilgrims,” he said.

Camp improvements were also a focus this year. All Mina tents now feature modern roofs for optimal airflow, upgraded floors for easy movement, enhanced lighting and refurbished facilities.
On the aviation front, collaboration between Haj operators, Oman’s airports and airlines led to reduced ticket prices, the addition of Taif Airport as a destination, and an option for departures via Suhar Airport. The number of overland pilgrims has decreased from 5,122 last year to 3,034 this season, reflecting a more streamlined operation.
To bring services closer to the pilgrims, the mission has established a new headquarters in the Al Naseem area, near the holy sites, equipped with modern facilities.
Additionally, 17 Omani doctors have been authorised to accompany pilgrims within Haj operators, supervised by the mission’s medical team, ensuring quick medical support when needed.
Al Rashdi emphasised that these steps reflect the mission’s commitment to not only meeting logistical challenges, but also enhancing the overall experience for every Omani pilgrim this Haj.
