Al Balushi Invited to IHF opening

Moosa bin Khamis al Balushi, President of the Oman Handball Association (OHA), has received an official invitation from the International Handball Federation (IHF) to attend the inauguration of its new headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, scheduled to take place from May 6 to 8, 2026. The invitation reflects the strong cooperation and growing relationship between the two organisations.
The visit is expected to further strengthen collaboration and support the continued development of handball in Oman, while enhancing the country’s presence on the international stage, particularly in beach handball.
During the visit, an official meeting is scheduled between representatives of the International Handball Federation and the Oman Handball Association to discuss preparations related to Oman’s bid to host the 2028 Beach Handball World Championships for men and women. The bid highlights the increasing confidence in Oman’s organisational capabilities and sports infrastructure to host major international events.
In addition, a delegation from the International Handball Federation is expected to visit Oman in May to inspect key sports venues and facilities, as well as review logistical arrangements. The visit will also include a series of meetings with officials from the Oman Handball Association as part of the evaluation process and to finalise the requirements of the hosting bid.
