Over 1.8 million vehicles registered in Oman

MUSCAT: The total number of vehicles registered in the Sultanate of Oman reached 1,865,499 by the end of February 2026, a 5.5 per cent increase compared to the figure of 1,851,469 registered in the corresponding period of 2025.
Data published in the monthly statistical bulletin issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that private vehicles accounted for the largest share of registered vehicles with 1,477,368, representing 79.2 per cent of the total vehicle number followed by commercial vehicles at 275,834, rental vehicles at 44,847 and taxis at 28,691.
Motorcycles accounted for 8,914 compared to 8,712 in the same period last year, a 13.5 per cent increase. Government vehicles were 11,780, political entities 958, tractors 1,234, driving school vehicles 4,975, and temporary vehicles 10,989.
Regarding vehicle colours, white vehicles were of the highest number at 786,973, followed by silver (239,670 vehicles), grey (195,654 vehicles), blue (103,437 vehicles), black (100,798 vehicles), red (76,081 vehicles,) green (38,659 vehicles) and yellow at 37,789.
Based on engine capacity, vehicles with engine capacities between 1500 and 3000 cc were the most with 1,015,734, followed by vehicles with engine capacities between 3000 and 4500 cc with 411,513 vehicles, and vehicles with engine capacities exceeding 4500 cc numbered 230,634.
