RCC dominate with five cups as HM Cup Festival ends

The Royal Camel Corps (RCC) dominated the concluding day of His Majesty Camel Racing Festival Cup 2026, securing five cups. Trainer Hamad bin Salim al Jidaili shone by claiming two prestigious cups in the final races.
HH Sayyid Dr Kamil bin Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, presided over the concluding day on Thursday at Al Feleij Track in the Wilayat of Barka, Al Batinah South Governorate.
The five days of competition featured 85 races with 23 icons and 27 cars as prizes from March 29 to April 2. The event was organised with the support of the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC), in collaboration with Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF).
The festival saw wide participation from camel owners and trainers representing various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, reflecting the strong presence and continued growth of camel racing across the country.


The final day programme included seven main rounds. The opening round was dedicated to the Haqayeg category over a distance of 4 km, followed by the Laqaya category over 5 km. The third round featured the Jidha category over 6 km, while the fourth round was allocated to the Thanaya category over 8 km. The fifth round was contested in the Hawl category over 8 km. The sixth and seventh rounds were reserved for the traditional race (human rider) for the Hawl category over distances of 2 km and 500 metres.
WINNERS EXPRESS PRIDE
Hamad bin Salim al Jidaili, trainer of ‘Fannad’, said: “Thank God, this is a great honour. Winning a cup that carries His Majesty’s name is something we are proud of. We prepared well, and we look forward to more victories in the future.”


Saif bin Said al Wuhaibi, winner of the Haqayeg round, said: “The competition was very strong, but thank God the camel was well prepared. We thank the organisers and wish everyone success.”
Jassim bin Salim al Wuhaibi, winner of the Laqaya round, said: “Thank God, this is an important win in a strong and fast race. The result reflects our preparation, and we are pleased to achieve our goal in such a prestigious event.”
Sultan bin Khamis al Maqbali from Suhar, winner of the Ardha race with ‘Al Khawara’, said: “This is a major event, and I am very happy with this victory. The competition was strong, and this win motivates us to achieve more success in future races.”
Ahmed bin Hamad al Omari said: “We thank the organisers for their great attention to the traditional race (human rider) rounds. This reflects the importance of preserving this authentic heritage sport, and we are proud to be part of such well-organised competitions.”
