Conference on AI and its applications commences

NIZWA: The activities of the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and its Applications commenced on Wednesday in the Wilayat of Nizwa, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The two-day event is organised by the University of Nizwa, represented by the Information Systems Department at the College of Economics, Management and Information Systems, in partnership with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Ibri, the Higher School of Economics (HSE University) in the Russian Federation and Fudan University in the People's Republic of China.
The opening of the conference was held under the auspices of Eng Omar bin Hamdan al Ismaili, CEO of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. The event was attended by Dr Ahmed bin Khalfan al Rawahi, Chancellor of the University of Nizwa.
The event saw the participation of numerous experts, researchers, academics, and specialists in the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity from 25 countries.
The conference's scientific programme encompasses 16 working sessions that discuss approximately 80 research papers, meticulously selected from a total of 361 submissions. These sessions address the latest research and emerging trends in the field of smart systems and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the sessions discuss best research practices and provide constructive feedback that contributes to developing performance quality and achieving beneficial scientific exchange among the participating parties.
Dr Salim bin Said al Abri, Dean of the College of Economics, Management and Information Systems and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the conference, stated that organising this event aligns with the university's plans and programmes in the field of artificial intelligence and its applications. It aims to deepen the understanding of the areas and challenges associated with the development and utilisation of artificial intelligence across various sectors, as well as to explore modern trends in this domain.
He added that the conference features an elite group of keynote speakers from the Sultanate of Oman, the United States of America, Russia and Australia. These speakers, who are pioneers in their respective fields with prominent contributions, will share pioneering visions regarding the latest developments and trends in artificial intelligence.
The conference covers a wide spectrum of research and applied issues in the fields of artificial intelligence. Most notably, these include big data analysis, cybersecurity and advanced applications such as converting natural language into database queries utilising large language models. - ONA
