New expansion of Sur Referral Hospital opens in Al Sharqiyah South

SUR: The new expansion of the Sur Referral Hospital in the Wilayat of Sur, Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, was inaugurated on Wednesday under the auspices of Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, and in the presence of Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health.
The expansion aims to enhance specialised health services and improve the efficiency of medical care provided, contributing to an increase in the hospital's total capacity to 206 beds — an addition of 58 beds — which supports efforts to develop the health system and achieve sustainability in therapeutic services.
The project was implemented through a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Al Jisr Foundation as part of supporting community partnerships aimed at contributing to the development of the health sector and enhancing the quality of its services.
The new expansion includes 58 beds, comprising a dialysis unit with a total capacity of 28 beds and four isolation rooms with a total capacity of 10 beds.
Additionally, it features an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a 30-bed capacity, distributed into an 8-bed paediatric ICU, a 12-bed adult ICU, and a 10-bed cardiac care unit, thereby strengthening the hospital's ability to provide advanced specialised services with high operational efficiency.
This expansion represents a significant addition to the health services in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate due to the support it provides for vital medical specialities and the increase in capacity, which contributes to improving the level of healthcare provided to citizens and residents in the governorate and neighbouring areas.
Dr Yahya bin Humaid al Masrouri, Director of Sur Hospital, stated that the Ministry of Health is continuing its efforts to develop health services in accordance with international standards, noting that this expansion embodies the ministry's direction toward building a sustainable and decentralised health system that responds to the needs of the population and provides a supportive work environment for continuous professional development, which is reflected in the quality of the health services provided. — ONA
