Nama completes water network project in Rustaq

AL RUSTAQ: Nama Water Services has completed the executive works for the water network construction project in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq.
This step reflects the company's continuous commitment to developing the infrastructure of the water sector and enhancing the sustainability of supplies to keep pace with population growth and urban expansion across the wilayats of of Oman.
The networks are currently undergoing quality testing and sterilisation in preparation for commercial operation, which will facilitate the supply of water through the network to beneficiaries in the near future.
The project is considered a vital initiative aimed at improving the water distribution system in several areas of the wilayat, including Al Iraqi, Hai Al Sarah, and Al Dahas, in addition to the industrial area. It has significantly contributed to raising network efficiency, establishing new distribution networks and enhancing service reliability for subscribers in both existing and planned residential layouts.
Eng Badr bin Salim al Rabaani, the Project Manager, clarified that the implementation of the project began in September 2023 at a total cost of approximately RO 2.3 million. He pointed out that the project constitutes a qualitative addition to the local infrastructure through its integrated technical and engineering works.
Al Rabaani explained that the project included the implementation of a water network using High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes of various diameters, with a total length of approximately 61 kilometres.
He added that the project involved executing over 1,315 household connections, successfully extending the service to more than 6,500 beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the work included the installation of fire hydrants, isolation and air valves, washouts and pressure monitoring points, ensuring the sustainable operation of the network in accordance with the highest safety and efficiency standards.
Al Rabaani indicated that the scope of work also covered the construction of wadi crossings and internal road intersections, alongside the associated civil, mechanical and electrical works. - ONA
