MUSCAT: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) is set to convene the Oman-Belarus Business Forum on Thursday (April 2) , in a move aimed at advancing bilateral trade and unlocking new investment pathways across a range of strategic sectors.
Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI, said the forum reflects a deliberate push to expand the international footprint of the Omani private sector while deepening economic engagement with the Republic of Belarus. He noted that such platforms are instrumental in opening new channels for cooperation and reinforcing Oman’s position in global markets.
Al Rawas highlighted that the forum will bring together business leaders, investors and institutional representatives from both countries, providing a structured environment to identify commercially viable opportunities and forge long-term partnerships. He stressed that enabling the private sector to capitalise on such engagements remains a key priority for the Chamber.
A central feature of the forum will be direct bilateral meetings between companies, designed to translate discussions into actionable projects. These engagements are expected to support the expansion of Omani exports, facilitate knowledge transfer, and contribute to broader economic diversification objectives.
The forum will cover a wide spectrum of sectors, including food security, agriculture, engineering industries, furniture, pharmaceuticals, information technology, tourism, banking services and logistics.
Participants will also attend a series of presentations outlining investment opportunities in Oman, alongside insights from the Belarusian delegation on priority sectors and growth prospects. Discussions will further address enhancing shipping connectivity and strengthening banking cooperation, including payment mechanisms between the two sides.
On the sidelines, targeted business-to-business meetings are expected to catalyse new trade and investment partnerships, supporting an increase in bilateral trade volumes and reinforcing economic ties between Oman and Belarus. — ONA
