Oman FA unveils Tarik Sektioui as head coach of national team

The Oman Football Association officially unveiled Moroccan coach Tarik Sektioui as the new head coach of the senior national team during a press conference held on Monday.
The event at the Hormuz Grand Hotel in Muscat was attended by officials, media representatives, and club delegates.
The appointment comes as part of the association’s efforts to strengthen the technical staff and benefit from Sektioui’s extensive coaching experience. He is considered one of the prominent names in Arab football, having achieved notable success at both club level and with youth national teams.
Sektioui brings a strong coaching resume, having managed several Moroccan clubs with solid results. He also made a significant impact in youth football, contributing to the development of emerging talents and guiding them to positive performances in continental competitions, making him a suitable choice to lead Oman in the upcoming phase.
During the press conference, Sektioui said that he had closely followed Omani football in recent months, explaining that he had carefully studied the domestic leagues. “I have a clear understanding of the Omani league and a vision to develop the national team from a tactical perspective. There are new ideas regarding playing style and strategy that we will work to implement in the coming period,” he said.
The Moroccan coach also expressed his ambition to achieve major success with the national team, sending a message to Omani fans: “I dream of winning the AFC Asian Cup with the Oman national team. We will work together as one unit to achieve this goal and make the fans proud.”
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
He added that he will place strong emphasis on youth development, noting that the next phase will include opportunities for new players. “We will closely monitor the Under-23 league and select new talents capable of strengthening the team. Building a strong national side starts with investing in young players,” he explained.
Sektioui further stressed his familiarity with Omani football, saying: “I have full knowledge of the Omani league, its clubs, and players. I chose to coach the national team out of conviction, as I believe in its potential to achieve positive results.”
Sektioui is expected to officially begin his duties in the coming period, focusing on preparing the team for upcoming competitions, aiming to improve performance and meet the aspirations of Omani fans at both regional and continental levels.
