Eid marked with prayers, exchange of greetings

Salalah/Khasab/Muscat: The governorates of the Sultanate of Oman celebrated the first day of Eid Al Fitr on Friday. Large crowds of citizens and residents performed the Eid prayer in mosques and prayer grounds, joyfully praying to Allah to thank Him for the advent of Eid at the conclusion of Ramadhan, to protect Oman and His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, to perpetuate the blessings of security, safety and stability upon it; and to spread peace throughout the world.
Eid Al Fitr sermons started with takbir and praise for Allah's abundant blessings. It touched on the blessings of fasting, noting that that the month highlighted the need for strengthening national unity and consolidating harmony and love among members of society. The sermons put focus on virtues of this blessed day, the values of tolerance, compassion and kinship.
Speakers prayed to Allah to protect His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and bless the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab and Islamic nations with goodness and prosperity.
His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, performed the Eid Al Fitr prayer at the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Salalah on Friday.
A number of their Highnesses, dignitaries, officials, shaikhs and notables of the Dhofar Governorate and some people also took part in the prayer. The prayers were also held in other wilayats of Dhofar Governorate.
Sayyid Faisal bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam, performed the Eid Al Fitr prayer in the Wilayat of Khasab.
A number of military commanders, shaikhs, dignitaries and some people took part in the prayer. Prayers were also held in other wilayats of Musandam Governorate.
Sayyid Dr Hamad bin Ahmed al Busaidy, Governor of Al Buraimi, performed the Eid Al Fitr prayer at the Eid prayer ground in Al Buraimi Oasis.
Dr Ahmed bin Ali al Shuaibi led the Eid prayers and, in his sermon, urged the congregation to maintain kinship ties, honour their parents, revive the values of compassion and social connection; and make Eid an occasion to strengthen family and community bonds.
In Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, led the Eid prayers in the Wilayat of Bahla, in the presence of several dignitaries, prominent figures of the Wilayat, shaikhs, elders and a large gathering of citizens and residents.
Faisal bin Ali al Adawi led the prayers and addressed several religious and patriotic themes in his sermon, drawing inspiration from the virtues of the holy month of Ramadhan and the noble meanings of Eid. He urged the worshippers to continue performing good deeds after Ramadhan, emphasising that the best deeds are those that are consistent, even if small. He called for adherence to national unity and reconciliation, stressing that purity of heart and sincerity of intention are the foundation for the stability of society.
Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Kindi, Governor of Al Batinah North, performed the Eid prayer at the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the Wilayat of Shinas.
In Al Batinah South Governorate, Eng Masoud bin Said al Hashmi, Governor of Al Batinah South, performed the Eid prayer at the Eid prayer ground in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq.
Mahmoud bin Yahya al Thuhli, Governor of Al Sharqiyah North, led the Eid Al Fitr prayer in the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid, in the presence of shaikhs, dignitaries and elders of the wilayat, as well as a number of citizens and residents.
In Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, Dr Yahya bin Badr al Maawali, Governor of Al Sharqiyah South, performed the Eid prayer at the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan.
