Qeem Al Alamiya clinch Ramadhan women’s basketball title

Qeem Al Alamiya were crowned champions of the Fifth Ramadhan Women’s Basketball Championship for Institutions and Organisations 2026 after defeating Emerald 41–32 in the final. Emerald finished runners-up, while Betal claimed third place with a 45–33 victory over Shooting Stars.
The closing ceremony was held at the sub-hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher under the auspices of Nazira bint Ahmed al Harthy, Vice-Chairperson of the Oman School Sports Association, in the presence of Saeed al Habsi, Acting Secretary-General of the Oman Basketball Association, and Hiba al Naabi, Head of Women’s Sports at the association and representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The final was played at a good technical level and began with clear intensity from both sides. Juhaina opened the scoring for Emerald before Kimia added two more points, but Qeem Al Alamiya responded quickly through Reem, who knocked down a three-pointer to cut the gap. The team then gradually imposed its advantage through pressure on the ball handler and effective close-range scoring, while Abeer stood out on the offensive end, helping Qeem Al Alamiya close the first quarter ahead 13–7.

Qeem Al Alamiya maintained their superiority in the second quarter by closing down spaces and limiting Emerald’s attacking threat, taking a 21–13 lead into half-time. They then widened the margin to 33–20 by the end of the third quarter after adding 12 points to Emerald’s 7. In the final quarter, Emerald attempted a comeback and scored 12 points, but Qeem Al Alamiya stayed composed and added 8 points of their own to seal the win.
In the awards ceremony, Qeem Al Alamiya received the championship trophy and gold medals, while Emerald took the runners-up trophy and silver medals. In the individual awards for Omani players, Malak al Sulaimi of Shooting Stars won the Best Emerging Player award, Ghadeer al Ismaili of Qeem Al Alamiya was named Best Player, and Shams al Duha al Khanji of Shooting Stars claimed the Top Scorer award. In the foreign players’ category, Ward Ibrahim won the Best Player award, while Kimia Ghafdas received the Top Scorer award.
SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP
Event patron Nazira al Harthy praised the tournament’s technical standard, saying it provided an important platform to showcase talent, develop national team players, and discover new prospects for the future. She also revealed that a school's basketball championship will be organised after Ramadhan in cooperation with the Oman Basketball Association.
For her part, Hiba al Naabi said the tournament was successful by every measure, featuring strong technical standards and helping highlight several talented players, while also serving as an important preparation stage for upcoming events, particularly the GCC Girls’ Championship qualifiers.
Qeem Al Alamiya player Fatima al Numani said the title was the result of teamwork and commitment in training, while Emerald player Kimia Ghafdas described her participation in the tournament as a valuable experience and expressed her delight at winning the Top Scorer award in the foreign players’ category.
