Iran war will be 'short-term': Trump

Doral, United States - US President Donald Trump said Monday that the war against Iran would be a 'short-term excursion,' while insisting the offensive would continue 'until the enemy is totally and decisively defeated.'
'We took a little excursion because we felt we had to do that to get rid of some people. And I think you'll see it's going to be a short-term excursion,' Trump told a gathering of Republicans at his golf club in Doral, Florida.

'Within a week, they were going to attack us 100%. They were ready. They had all these missiles far more than anyone thought, and they were going to attack us, but they were going to attack all of the Middle East and Israel.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said the war against Iran 'is very complete' and that Washington was 'very far ahead' of his initial four to five week estimated time frame, according to a CBS News reporter on X, who cited an ‌interview with him. 'I think the war is very complete, pretty much. ‌They have no navy, no communications, they’ve got no Air Force,' Trump was quoted as saying by CBS News' White House correspondent Weijia Jiang. Trump ‌also said the U.S. is 'very far' ahead of his initial 4-5 week ‌estimated time frame for the war.  'I think the war is very complete, pretty much. They have no navy, no communications, they've got no air force,' Trump told CBS News by phone.

On Iran's new Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, Trump told CBS News: 'I have no message for him.' Trump said he has someone in mind to replace Khamenei, but did not elaborate.
