Rains expected due to passing of trough

 

Isolated rain is expected in Musandam an parts of Al Hajar Mountains on Wednesday adternoon.

Speaking to Observer, the weather forecasters at Oman Met Office said late night on Wednesday there is a chance for light isolated rain in the coastal areas of Muscat, Batinah and Dhofar Governorates.

The current weather is due to the passing of a trough.

'There is a trough passing through, but it is not an ideal trough. There is also a chance for rain over Al Hajar Mountains on Thursday,' noted the weather forecasters.

Low clouds and fog had been forming over parts of the coasts of the Sea of Oman, parts of the Eastern South, Eastern North, Central, and Dhofar governorates on Wednesday.

Foggy atmosphere was reported in the highlands of Qirun Hairiti in Dhofar Governorate on Wednesday morning.

Clouds advection was forecast by the Oman Met Office over Musandam, North & South Al Batinah, Muscat governorates, western Al Hajar mountains and parts of the Arabian sea with chances of isolated rain and mainly clear skies expected over rest of the Governorates.

The Met Office has also warned that there is a chance of dust rising over desert and open areas of Al Wusta, Dhofar, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi governorates. There are also chances for low clouds and fog patches over parts of Oman Sea coasts and South and North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Buraimi, al Dhahirah, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.

Winds are southeasterly to easterly light to moderate over most of the governorates and fresh over Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates and coastal areas of Musandam and Oman sea.

The sea condition is moderate along the Oman sea and Musandam coasts with maximum wave height of 2.0 meters, while it is expected to be slight to moderate along the Arabian sea coasts with maximum wave height of 1.5 meters.

They have warned that visibility may reduce in fog formation sites and during dust rising.
