Emerald win thriller as Qeem Al Alamiya dominate

MUSCAT: Emerald secured a hard-fought 30–26 victory over Shooting Stars in the Fifth Ramadhan Women’s Basketball Championship for Institutions and Organisations 2026. The match, held at the sub-hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, remained evenly balanced until the final quarter, when Emerald capitalised on key moments to pull ahead and seal a four-point win.
Individually, Kimia led Emerald’s offence with 9 points, receiving strong support from Tami (8 points) and Nada (7 points), while Reema and Amal also contributed to the team’s total. For Shooting Stars, Shams Al Duha topped the scoring with 8 points, backed by Malak al Sulaimi (5 points) and Lamar (4 points), in addition to crucial contributions from Aisha during decisive stages that kept her team in contention.
The game opened cautiously, with both sides focusing on defensive organisation and closing down spaces. Shamsalduha scored the first basket from under the rim, but Emerald quickly responded through Kimia. The teams exchanged the lead before Emerald ended the first quarter ahead 9–7.
The second quarter maintained the same intensity, with both teams relying on drives and close-range finishes, alongside improved transition play. Shams Al Duha repeatedly narrowed the gap with baskets in the paint, yet Emerald maintained composure to head into halftime leading 17–15.
The tempo increased in the third quarter, with more aggressive attempts toward the basket and balanced defensive and offensive rebounding. Each side scored 9 points, keeping Emerald narrowly in front at 26–24.
In the final quarter, Emerald found the decisive edge, outscoring Shooting Stars 4–2 through tight defence and better game management, closing out the match 30–26.

QEEM AL ALAMIYA DOMINATE BETAL IN 45–13 VICTORY
Qeem Al Alamiya controlled proceedings from start to finish against Betal, claiming a commanding 45–13 win.
Leading the scoring for Qeem Al Alamiya was Nareen with 12 points, supported by Abeer (6 points) and Reem (4 points), alongside impactful contributions from Ruba that widened the margin. For Betal, Shari, Pia, and Jobs showed flashes of offensive presence despite the difficult contest.
Qeem Al Alamiya began at a steady pace but with clear superiority, effectively closing defensive gaps and limiting Betal’s opportunities to finish the first quarter ahead 6–1.
They increased defensive pressure in the second quarter and relied on quick transitions, holding Betal to just 3 points while adding 7 of their own to lead 13–4 at halftime.
The gap widened significantly in the third quarter as Qeem Al Alamiya dominated the boards and raised the tempo, scoring 14 points compared to just 1 for Betal, extending the lead to 27–5.
Despite Betal’s attempt to improve offensively in the final period, Qeem Al Alamiya maintained control, adding 18 points to Betal’s 8 to secure a decisive 45–13 victory.
