'Koorathon' tournament second week witnesses thrilling matches

MUSCAT: The second week of the inaugural Oman Logistics Academy Higher Education Institutions Championship ‘Koorathon’ continued with intense Group B action, reflecting the growing competitive spirit among participating teams as they strive for qualification to the next stages.
In the first Group B encounter, leaders Muscat University faced Oman Tourism College in a tightly contested match characterised by tactical discipline and balanced play from the opening whistle, both sides imposed a high tempo, exchanging attacking moves and competing fiercely in midfield, while an enthusiastic crowd added to the atmosphere.
Muscat University pushed forward in search of a breakthrough to consolidate their position at the top of the standings. However, Oman Tourism College’s goalkeeper delivered an outstanding performance, denying several clear opportunities during the first half, which ended goalless.
The second half maintained a similar rhythm, with both teams showing defensive organisation and measured attacking efforts, Clear cut chances remained limited and the match concluded in a 0–0 draw, with each side earning a valuable point.

In the second Group B fixture, Sultan Qaboos University secured their second victory of the tournament concluded 2-1 for SQU, reinforcing their leadership of the group with a hard fought win over the University of Technology and Applied Sciences.
Despite a balanced opening phase, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences took the lead in the first half through Sultan al Alawi, who scored with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area, the half was marked by intensity and competitive exchanges between both teams.
After the break, Sultan Qaboos University asserted greater control, translating their dominance into a decisive goal scored by Malik al kathiri, Their structured play and attacking persistence proved decisive, while their opponents struggled to find an equaliser despite determined efforts.
The defeat marks the second loss for the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, placing them in a difficult position in the qualification race.
Abdullah Muslih al Alawi of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences was named Man of the Match in recognition of his impressive performance across both halves.
