Social iftar gatherings thrive on the unity and camaraderie they foster, bringing people from diverse backgrounds together, strengthening bonds and celebrating our shared humanity.
In Muscat, over 5,500 fasting individuals, representing a wide array of nationalities, gathered at the iconic Ruwi Clock Tower as the Deccani Wing of the Indian Social Club (ISC), Oman, hosted what organisers called the Sultanate of Oman’s largest community iftar recently.
The event united prominent community leaders, families, elders, youth and volunteers, reflecting brotherhood and the true essence of Ramadhan, delivering a remarkable display of unity, service and community spirit. For the past two decades, this annual iftar has symbolised togetherness and compassion; and this year’s gathering further strengthened that legacy. Meticulous planning and seamless coordination ensured a comfortable and spiritually uplifting experience for all.
The evening was filled with warmth as the Maghrib call to prayer echoed through the landmark, followed by the breaking of the fast and congregational prayers. Thousands of iftar meals were distributed efficiently, thanks to the tireless efforts of devoted volunteers.
The Hyderabadi Community Iftar, held annually at Ruwi Clock Tower, welcomed everyone from labourers to CEOs, students to officers, all seeking the blessings of Almighty Allah.
“This year’s iftar brought together people from diverse nationalities in a display of unity, service and brotherhood during Ramadhan. We are pleased the spirit of community iftar continues to grow”, said one organiser.
Sohail Khan from the team added, “This iftar reflects the generosity and collective spirit of our community and reminds us of our responsibility to serve humanity”.
Volunteers shared their experiences: Dawood Khan said, “Serving thousands of fasting people and seeing their smiles brings immense satisfaction and spiritual fulfillment”. Mohsin Ali highlighted, “Every volunteer worked tirelessly with one purpose — to serve”. Attendees praised the meticulous organisation, noting how the event strengthened relationships and kept cultural and spiritual values alive.
Kauser Jehan and Mariam Mansoor remarked, “It was heartening to see families, elders and children come together. The spirit of unity and devotion was inspiring”.
The Deccani Wing expressed sincere gratitude to sponsors, donors, volunteers and supporters whose generosity made this grand gathering possible. As the evening concluded with prayers for peace, unity and prosperity, the event reaffirmed the Wing’s commitment to community service, harmony and the shared pursuit of common causes for humanity.
