Private sector to operate Al Jalali Fort in Muscat

 

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism signed a contract with Jibal Al Hajar Company to manage, operate and optimise the use of Al Jalali Fort in the Wilayat of Muscat, Governorate of Muscat.
The step forms part of efforts to enhance partnership with the private sector in managing and operating heritage sites.
The contract was signed by Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors Jibal Al Hajar Company.


The contract aimed to maximise gains from cultural heritage as a source of economic revenue. Al Jalali Fort constitutes a prominent historical landmark in the Governorate of Muscat. Its civilisational value stems from Oman’s deep-rooted history and cultural legacy.
The project will contribute to the promotion of tourism by attracting visitors from Oman and abroad.
The contract represents a step forward in empowering the private sector and enhancing its role in operating heritage sites in line with best practices. — ONA
