Iran-US talks adjourned, to resume today after a break

Geneva:  'We’ve been exchanging creative and positive ideas in Geneva on Thursday, and now both US and Iranian negotiators have adjourned for a break. We’ll resume later today. We hope to make more progress,' Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al Busaidi posted in his X account.

The Foreign Minister held meetings in Geneva with the US President’s Envoy, Jared Kushner, as part of ongoing consultations linked to the indirect negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, facilitated by the Sultanate of Oman.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister reviewed the Iranian side’s views and proposals, as well as the responses and inquiries of the US negotiating team concerning the key elements of Iran’s nuclear programme and the guarantees required to achieve the desired agreement addressing all technical and monitoring aspects of the file.

The Foreign Minister affirmed that efforts are continuing intensively and in a constructive spirit, noting an unprecedented openness among negotiators to new and innovative ideas, alongside preparations of supportive conditions aimed at advancing talks and reaching a fair agreement with sustainable guarantees.

In the context of consultations and exchange of views on technical matters related to the Iranian nuclear file and the new ideas currently under negotiation between the Iranian and US sides, the Foreign Minister also met with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Geneva.

During the meeting, he underscored the importance of the professional and technical role undertaken by the IAEA in ensuring transparency, credibility and sound governance of procedures related to the nuclear file.
