The second day of the inaugural Oman Logistics Academy Football Championship for Higher Education Institutions 2026 continued at Goal One Stadium in Al Athaiba, delivering exciting performances and strong student engagement under the ‘Koorathon’ initiative, which aims to strengthen university sports culture and promote teamwork and leadership among students.
In Group 2, the University of Muscat faced the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (A) in a high-tempo contest marked by tactical discipline and attacking intent from both sides.
Al Moayad al Riyami gave the University of Muscat an early advantage, capitalising on a swift attacking move. However, Sultan al Alawi responded for the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, leveling the score at 1–1 before half-time.
At the start of the second half, Al Riyami continued his standout performance, netting his second goal of the match to restore his team’s lead. Despite persistent efforts from UTAS to equalise, the University of Muscat maintained defensive composure to secure a hard-fought 2–1 victory.
Al Riyami was deservedly named Man of the Match for his decisive contribution.
OLA (A) DOMINATE
In Group 3, Oman Logistics Academy (A) faced the College of Engineering and Management in a competitive encounter. The Engineering College took the lead in the first half through Al Sibat al Hathali, finishing off a quick counter-attack.
The OLA responded through Abdullah al Riyami, who equalised before the break to restore balance.
In the second half, Oman Logistics Academy (A) asserted control through organised possession and attacking discipline. Laith al Tuwaijri scored the go-ahead goal, shifting momentum firmly in the OLA’s favour. As the Engineering College pushed forward in search of an equaliser, Mohammed al Zadjali capitalised on late spaces to score a decisive third goal in the final minute, sealing a 3–1 victory.
Al Zadjali earned the Man of the Match award for his influential performance and late goal that confirmed his team’s superiority.
With competitive fixtures and high-quality performances, the championship continues to highlight the growing strength of university football in Oman, reinforcing the success of the ‘Koorathon’ initiative in blending sports with academic excellence.
