MOAFWR seeks to empower youth in Agriculture

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MoAFWR) and the Oman Agricultural Association held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss a number of topics and challenges facing the agricultural sector in the Sultanate of Oman, within the framework of enhancing cooperation and integration between the two sides.
The meeting addressed the importance of empowering Omani youth in the fields of agricultural marketing and explored enablers to encourage their engagement in this sector. It also emphasised the necessity of opening foreign markets for Omani products and overcoming challenges that hinder their market access.
Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, affirmed the ministry's keenness to organise periodic meetings that contribute to consolidating institutional partnerships and enhancing the effective relationship between the two parties.
He noted the ministry's readiness to listen to the association's proposals, given its pivotal role in supporting agricultural production, strengthening the food security system and contributing to the development of the agricultural sector.
He stated that the ministry will serve as the primary supporter for the association in addressing the challenges facing the sector, thereby contributing to achieving sustainability and enhancing productivity. The meeting also included a review of the most prominent achievements associated with the Tenth Five-Year Plan related to the nature of Oman Agricultural Association's work. - ONA
