Eid Al Fitr in Oman is likely to be celebrated on March 20 (Friday) as per astronomical calculations. This joyous occasion marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan, and Omanis are expecting a five-day holiday to indulge in festivities and spend quality time with loved ones.
'The crescent moon is expected to be sighted on the evening of Thursday (March 19), which would confirm Eid Al Fitr on Friday (March 20),' said Board Member of Oman Space and Astronomical Society Abdulwahab al Busaidy.
'This year will be much easier for astronomers around the world to know when Eid Al Fitr will fall. The moon will be easily seen on Thursday (March 19) across the world. As a result, all countries, including Oman and neighbouring countries, and most of the Islamic countries and possibly the entire Muslim world will have the first day of Eid Al Fitr on March 20,” Al Busaidy said.
Many in Oman are anticipating a five-day holiday that includes the weekend. Holidays are expected to begin from Thursday (March 19) to Monday (March 23).
The holiday season will bring government offices, schools and most businesses to a close, allowing everyone to come together and celebrate the spirit of giving, forgiveness and gratitude.
'We are thrilled to note that Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on March 20, and we anticipate a five-day holiday period for everyone. It's the time for families and friends to come together, share meals and strengthen bonds,' Abdullah al Balushi, a government employee, said.
