MUSCAT, FEB 24
Al Nahda Club head coach, André Jasmins, declared that his side is fully determined to clinch all remaining domestic titles this season, following their recent success in lifting the prestigious HM Cup.
Al Nahda secured the coveted trophy after a commanding 2-0 victory over Oman Club in the final, marking a major milestone in the club’s campaign. The triumph strengthened the team’s ambition to make the 2025-26 season one of the most successful in its history.
“ Our first mission has been accomplished by winning the HM Cup,” Jasmins told Oman Observer. “Now, our full focus shifts to the remaining competitions including the Jindal League and the OFA (Jetour) Cup. Our objective is clear as we want to win every domestic title available this season,” he said.
Despite their domestic success, Al Nahda narrowly missed out on qualification for the 2025–26 AGCFF Gulf Cup Champions League. The Portuguese tactician admitted that dropping crucial points during the group stage proved costly. “We worked very hard to secure a place in the AGCFF Gulf Cup Champions League, but unfortunately, we missed that golden opportunity after losing important points in key group matches including the match against Saudi Arabia's Al Shabab in Muscat which ended in a 1-1 draw ,” he explained.
RISING TO CHALLENGE
Jasmins praised his players for their resilience, particularly during a demanding schedule that saw them compete in high-pressure continental fixtures alongside domestic commitments. “Before the HM Cup final, we had to play a crucial match against Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab FC in the AGCFF Gulf Cup Champions League,” he said. “Our preparations for the final were not ideal because of that tight schedule but the players rose to the challenge.”
“They managed to overcome all these difficulties and delivered a fantastic performance in the final. I am very proud of the team and their fighting spirit.” he added.
Reflecting on the team’s continental campaign, Jasmins also addressed the defeat against Qatar’s Al Rayyan SC, acknowledging the strength of the opposition. “As everyone knows, Al Rayyan is among the top clubs in Qatar and Asia. They have highly professional and talented players,” he said. “We worked extremely hard to compete against them and were close to achieving better results in several matches.”
He pointed to the 1-1 draw against Al Shabab in Muscat as an example of the team’s competitive level, noting that Al Nahda showed they could stand toe-to-toe with strong regional opponents.
STRONG POSITION
Domestically, Al Nahda continue to build momentum. The team recently secured a 2-0 victory over Ibri, bringing their tally to 25 points in the Jindal League standings. They are now preparing for a postponed league clash against Al Shabab Club on Thursday beside other postponed games which could prove crucial in their standing of the league. With confidence high following the HM Cup success, Jasmins believes consistency and mental strength will be key factors in the decisive phase of the season.
In his concluding remarks, the Portuguese coach emphasised that his long-term vision extends beyond winning trophies as it is about transforming the mindset within the squad. “We want to become the top and best team in Oman,” Jasmins stated firmly.
“To achieve that, the players must adopt a philosophy of winning every match. That mentality is essential if we want to dominate domestically and compete strongly at the regional level.”
