MUSCAT: The National Museum of Oman hosted the Ukrainian Cultural Nights’ event in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in Oman, as part of efforts to promote cultural exchange and civilisational dialogue between the two countries.
The event was sponsored by HH Sayyidah Mayyan bint Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Omani Design Society (Design Oman).
The programme aimed to highlight aspects of contemporary Ukrainian culture while showcasing shared artistic and human connections between Oman and Ukraine. A diverse line-up of cultural and artistic segments reflected both rich heritage and modern creativity.
The evening witnessed the attendance of their highnesses, excellencies, ambassadors, officials, intellectuals and artists, as well as members of the public, creating an atmosphere that underscored the community’s appreciation for cultural diplomacy and artistic dialogue.
A visual documentary presentation titled ‘Modern Ukraine: Art and World Heritage’ reviewed key aspects of Ukraine’s artistic and cultural landscape, its contribution to global heritage, and its presence on international cultural platforms.
Olga Selykh, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Sultanate of Oman, described the event as historic. She said it marks an important step toward building a strong bridge of friendship between the Omani and Ukrainian peoples, grounded in mutual respect for traditions, values and cultural diversity.
The programme also featured musical performances by soprano Nataliya Shelepnytska, widely recognised in Ukraine as a ‘People’s Artist,’ alongside a presentation of traditional Ukrainian fashion inspired by ancient art schools listed on Unesco’s Intangible Cultural Heritage register.
An art exhibition titled ‘Spaces of Tranquility Between: The Sultanate of Oman and Ukraine’ was inaugurated by prominent Ukrainian visual artist Volodymyr Kozyuk. The exhibition features works such as 'Wheat Field.. Road,' depicting the meeting of light and earth; ‘Rhapsody from Podolia,’ portraying harmony between water and fields; and ‘Awakening of Polesia,’ capturing nature’s transition from winter to spring.
