ISWK Cambridge hosts ISSO Oman Games 2026

MUSCAT: The inaugural ISSO Oman Games 2026 recently concluded with a grand finale at ISWK Cambridge.
This marked the first time the International Schools Sports Organisation (ISSO) brought its prestigious multi-sport platform to Omani shores, drawing student-athletes from across the region for a high-octane display of skill, stamina, and sportsmanship.

As an ISF-recognised school-sports organisation, ISSO is committed to building a structured, internationally aligned pathway for student-athletes—where participation evolves into progression through high-quality competition, standardised formats, certified officiating, and exposure to multi-sport excellence.
The Oman edition reflected this vision by delivering professional event standards and a clear development platform for emerging talent.

The tournament transformed the ISWK Cambridge campus into a hub of athletic excellence, featuring intense competitions in football, basketball, athletics, and badminton. With categories spanning Under-12, Under-14, and Under-18, the event provided a rare platform for young athletes to test their mettle in a competitive, international-standard environment.

A Masterclass in Sportsmanship

The opening ceremony was graced by Talib Hilal Mohammed Al Thanawi, Head Coach of the Oman Beach Soccer National Team. Addressing the gathering, Al Thanawi emphasised the role of grassroots sports in building national character.

“The discipline and competitive spirit displayed here today are the building blocks of professional excellence,” he noted, praising the organisers for maintaining a high technical standard throughout the meet.

ISWK Cambridge and ISSO have laid a robust foundation for future championships. The event reinforces Oman’s reputation as a regional destination for school sports, ensuring that the next generation of athletes is nurtured in the spirit of fair play, healthy competition, and lifelong excellence.
