Awqaf spends RO123m on orphans, supports 31,642 families

The Ministry achieved several milestones in 2025, and most notably it has been managing the investment portfolio of orphans' and minors' funds with a value exceeding RO123 million and an investment return of 5.15 percent while 31,642 families have been supported through 66 community Zakat committees, according to Mohammed al Mamri, the Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs.
Speaking on the sidelines of the annual media briefing of the activities of the Ministry, Al Mamri said that Ministry has spent approximately RO16m in sponsoring the employment of more than 2,550 members and volunteers.
Additionally, the Ministry has adopted the Professional Diploma Programme for Preparing Endowment Leaders.
2) Registered 167 new endowment assets with an estimated value exceeding 50 million Omani Riyals in 2025.
3) Achieved significant progress in digital transformation targets, reaching 95pc in digitising services.
4) The Ministry was ranked among the top government entities in the 'Human Capital and Institutional Culture' and 'Partnership and Operation' indicators, achieving an 'Excellent' performance rating'.
5) The Ministry also made optimal use of events and occasions to highlight its effective role and showcase its achievements and initiatives.
Furthermore, there has been an increase in the number of mosques, prayer halls, and Quranic schools that rely on self-financing for maintenance and cleaning services.
The Government Institutions Performance Measurement Unit's report, based on an evaluation of 68 indicators, revealed the following results: An 'Excellent' rating in 35 indicators; a 'Good' rating in 20 indicators; an 'Average' rating in 7 indicators; and 6 indicators with a below-average or weak rating.
