UAE, Saudi Arabia, India top travel destinations for Omanis

 

Muscat: The top outbound countries visited by Omani travelers in 2024 are the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, India, Iran, Thailand and Türkiye.

Of these, the UAE topped the list with 4.9 million visits by Omanis, Saudi Arabia (257, 000), India (77,000), Iran (64,900), Thailand (56,600), and Türkiye (55,600).

The total amount spent by Omanis on international travel in 2024, representing 21.5 percent of total spending by citizens' outbound travel.

The top six nationalities departing the Sultanate of Oman by international flights are India (96,572), Omanis (58,417), Pakistanis (26,529), Bangladeshis (21,626), Iranians (11,961), and Egyptians (11,159).

It may be noted that the Sultanate of Oman's Passport has improved its rankings in the recent Henley Passport Index 2026 to 57 from 59 in 2025.
Oman's citizens can travel visa-free to 85 countries, including Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Barbados, Belarus, Bermuda, Botswana, Brunei, China, Colombia, Cook Islands, Dominica, Ecuador, Egypt, Georgia, Haiti, Hong Kong (SAR China), Iran, Jordan, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Macao, Malaysia, Mauritius, Pakistan, Philippines, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Singapore, Suriname, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, The Bahamas, Tunisia, Turkey, Turks and Caicos Islands, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu and Zambia.

In the GCC, the UAE passport is ranked 5th (184 visa-free countries), Saudi Arabia 55th (87 visa-free countries), Qatar 50th (96 visa-free countries).
