MUSCAT: With anticipation building ahead of the Sultan’s Cup final, both Oman Club and Al Nahda underlined their readiness during the pre-match press conference, reaffirming their determination to rise to the occasion in what promises to be a fiercely contested showdown.
Oman Club head coach Idris al Marabout confirmed that his side enters the 2025–2026 His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup final in peak physical condition, having benefited from a demanding run of fixtures throughout the season. Speaking at the press conference held on Thursday morning at the Omantel building, he said recent preparations have focused heavily on the mental and psychological aspects of the game.
Al Marabout stressed that finals are often decided by mental presence and tactical discipline, noting that the technical staff has worked to ensure players approach the match with confidence and composure. He added that the team has developed a clear balance between defence and attack, with smooth transitions shaping its identity this season.
Addressing the absence of high-profile names, Al Marabout said he adopted a realistic approach from the beginning, relying on a group of ambitious players eager to compete for the title. He emphasised that clarity of roles and strong tactical understanding have helped build a collective identity where teamwork and discipline outweigh individual recognition.
Former international Mohammed al Maashari described the final as a defining moment in a player’s career, highlighting its historical and emotional value. He stressed the importance of balanced motivation, warning against excessive emotional pressure that could affect focus. According to Al Maashari, finals are often decided by fine margins, making concentration and emotional control essential.
Al Nahda head coach Andre Jasmins labelled the occasion as the most important moment of the season, expressing confidence in his squad’s readiness. He confirmed the absence of Thani al Rashidi and Al Shammousi due to yellow card accumulation, but voiced full trust in the depth and balance of his team.
Jasmins noted that finals require a distinct tactical and mental approach, affirming that Al Nahda will enter the match with a clear objective to win. He described pressure as a source of motivation and stressed the need to maintain focus from the first whistle, as a single moment can determine the outcome.
Al Nahda player Ahmed al Kaabi described the final as a national occasion and an honour for every participant. He acknowledged that cup finals are often settled by small details, emphasising that the team which maintains focus and capitalises on its opportunities will ultimately lift the trophy.
