Oman to take part in six events at 2026 Asian Beach Games in Sanya

Muscat: The Oman Olympic Committee's (OOC) board has recently approved the national team lists for the 2026 Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China.
Oman will participate in six sports: beach soccer, beach handball, beach athletics, modern pentathlon, beach volleyball (Team A), in addition to aquatic sports.
The OOC Board of Directors held their first meeting of the year on Monday, under the chairmanship of HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais al Said, OOC Chairman.
At the outset, he welcomed the board members and expressed his appreciation for their efforts over the past year and the achievements accomplished in support of Olympic work in the Sultanate of Oman. He also emphasised the importance of the upcoming phase and the sporting and organisational commitments of the current year, calling for continued teamwork to achieve the Committee’s set objectives.
At the beginning of the agenda, the board approved the minutes of the first Executive Office meeting of OOC held on January 6, along with the decisions and recommendations contained therein.
As part of discussions related to institutional organisation, the board reviewed the Unified Statutes of Gulf sports federations, highlighting the key regulatory provisions aimed at standardising institutional work among sports federations in the GCC countries.
The board also reviewed the minutes of the 23rd General Assembly meeting of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, held on November 8, 2025 in Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games, and the resulting recommendations and decisions related to the Arab Olympic movement.
The meeting addressed the administrative status of members of boards of sports federations accompanying national teams within the official delegations of OOC, to ensure clarity of administrative roles and responsibilities during international participations.
EVENTS TEAM PLANNED
In another agenda item, members of the Omani Committee for Sports Dispute Resolution and Arbitration at Oman Olympic Committee were appointed. The board also discussed a proposal to form a Public Relations, Programmes and Events Team, aimed at enhancing the Committee’s institutional presence and organising events and accompanying activities with efficiency and
professionalism.
The board reviewed the annual administrative report of OOC for 2025, which included the main programmes, initiatives and activities implemented during the past year. The board also reviewed the
financial position of the Committee as of December 31, 2025 and discussed financial matters related to the progress of work.
At the conclusion of the agenda, the date of the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Oman Olympic Committee for 2026 was set for March 14, along with a review of the meeting agenda, before addressing any other business and taking the appropriate decisions accordingly.
