Ahmed al Wahaibi clinches 30th Assarain Golf Classic Crown

MUSCAT: Ahmed al Wahaibi of Oman emerged champion at the 30th Assarain Golf Classic after overcoming stiff competition from a strong field at Ghala Golf Club. The prestigious tournament was held on February 6 and 7 and attracted around 135 golfers, underscoring its status as one of Oman's premier golfing events.
Expressing his delight after the victory, Ahmed said, “The Assarain Golf Classic is a fantastic tournament, and it feels great to win a competition of this stature. I would like to thank my playing partners over the last few days. It was a pleasure to be part of this event, and I sincerely thank the sponsor, Assarain Group of Companies.”
Ahmed al Farsi, GM of Ghala Golf Club and event manager, praised the atmosphere and participation at the tournament. “The atmosphere was electric from the first day. I was truly amazed by the participation and overall feel of the 2026 Assarain Golf Classic. We were oversubscribed and had to implement a cut-off for players, but overall it was a tremendous occasion,” he said.

Crowning the final day was a high profile prize giving ceremony, where HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais al Said, Guest of Honour, presented the awards to the winners amid an impressive gathering of dignitaries.
Continuing its long-standing tradition, the Assarain Golf Classic concluded with the raffle draw for a Hublot watch, which was won by Fahad al Kitani.
Commenting on the success of the event, Ibrahim al Wahaibi, Director of Assarain Group, said, “I would like to congratulate all the winners in their respective categories and thank all the participants. With the success of the 2026 event, we are committed to making the Assarain Golf Classic bigger and better in the coming years while maintaining the high professional standards of hosting one of the oldest golf tournaments in the Sultanate.”
