MUSCAT: The Al Rahba Racecourse in the Wilayat of Barka hosted on Friday, the 16th horse racing meet, featuring a competitive nine-race card that brought together elite Arabian thoroughbreds and purebred thoroughbred horses, in an atmosphere marked by strong competition and growing interest in the sport.
The meeting opened with the first race, Al Ghanjah, for purebred Arabian horses, Al Shibl, owned by the Royal Cavalry, claimed first place under the supervision of trainer Mohammed bin Issa al Balushi and jockey al Mutasim bin Said al Balushi.
In the second race, Al Boom, also for purebred Arabians, the Royal Cavalry continued its dominance as Al Kassah secured victory, trained by Kahlan bin Mohammed al Balushi and ridden by jockey Mohammed bin Mahmoud al Farsi.


The third race, Al Shasha, witnessed the triumph of Al Dustoor, trained by Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Balushi and ridden by Anas bin Salim al Siyabi.
In the fourth race, Al Baqarah, for purebred Arabian horses, Hizam delivered an impressive performance to take first place trained by Mohammed bin Salim al Siyabi and ridden by Amer bin Ali al Rasbi, in a tightly contested race decided in the final stretch.
The fifth race, Al Badan, for locally bred purebred Arabian horses, saw Kassab GM clinch victory, trained by Hissam bin Raid al Rasbi and ridden by Yahya bin Juma al Hamadani.
Action continued in the sixth race, Al Hoori, for purebred thoroughbreds, where Run Shiro emerged victorious. The winning horse trained by Majid bin Abdullah al Farisi and ridden by Mohammed bin Mahmoud al Farsi, who enjoyed a highly successful outing.


In the seventh race, al Sanboq, also for thoroughbreds, Boomologist, owned by Salem bin Abdullah al Siyabi, delivered another success for trainer Mohammed bin Salem al Siyabi, with Mohammed bin Mahmoud al Farsi again in the saddle.
The eighth race, the Maraza Cup, for locally bred purebred Arabian horses, sponsored by Al Reef Stud, was won by Muhajim G, trained by Hassan bin Mohammed al Falahi and ridden by Mohammed bin Mahmoud al Farsi.
The meeting concluded with the ninth and final race, Sultanah, for purebred Arabian horses where Saint Al Mori, claimed first place under trainer Ali bin Salem al Hashimi and jockey Hamad bin Sultan al Maliki.

Post-Race Reactions
Trainer Mohammed bin Salem al Siyabi, following Hizam’s victory, expressed his satisfaction with the result, stating:
“This win is the result of consistent preparation and hard work. We focused on having the horse fully ready for this race and the outcome reflects the effort put in by the entire team.”
Jockey Mohammed bin Mahmoud al Farsi, who recorded multiple victories during the meeting, highlighted the high level of competition, saying:
“All races were highly competitive. Success came from the excellent condition of the horses and the clear technical instructions from the trainers, which made the difference on the track.”
The 16th race meeting at Al Rahba Racecourse once again underlined the growing stature of horse racing in the Sultanate of Oman and its role in showcasing the quality and competitiveness of Omani bred horses.
