UTAS-Al Musannah welcomes new students for spring semester

AL MUSANNAH: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Al Musannah Branch, welcomed its newly admitted students for the Spring Semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. A total of 565 students were admitted across the College of Engineering and Technology, College of Computing and Information Sciences, and College of Economics and Business Administration.
The programme commenced with an introductory meeting that included an address by the University Vice-Chancellor, Dr Said bin Hamed al Rubaii, who expressed pride in the enrolment of a new cohort of students, describing them as the cornerstone of community development. He urged the students to demonstrate commitment in carrying the mission of nation-building.
Dr Nasser bin Salem al Baimani, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UTAS-Al Musannah, also welcomed the new students, encouraging them to make optimal use of their years of study by developing their skills and fostering innovation and creativity throughout their academic journey.
The programme featured comprehensive introductions to the University, its mission and objectives, as well as its colleges and departments. Students were also familiarised with available facilities and services, in addition to the academic and administrative systems at the University.
Furthermore, the programme included a series of orientation sessions introducing the General Foundation Program, the services of the Admission and Registration Center and Student Affairs, the Information Systems and Educational Technologies Center, and the Research and Innovation Sector. An overview of the University’s electronic services was also provided, along with a dedicated session to address students’ inquiries.
The new students will undertake placement tests in English language, computer skills, and mathematics, in addition to attending an awareness lecture on adapting to university life, aimed at preparing students both psychologically and academically for the higher education environment.
This programme is implemented as part of UTAS-Al Musanna’s commitment to providing an integrated educational experience for its new students, enabling them to become familiar with academic programmes, systems and services, and supporting the development of a university journey grounded in awareness, responsibility and academic readiness.
