Al Rahba hosts 14th horse racing competition

BARKA: The 14th horse racing event of the season was staged on Thursday at Al Rahba Racecourse in the Wilayat of Barka, featuring eight races that brought together Purebred Arabian horses and Thoroughbreds in a highly competitive atmosphere marked by strong performances and enthusiastic participation.
The opening race, dedicated to locally bred Purebred Arabian horses, was won by Nawader Al Faisal, ridden by Amer bin Ali al Rasbi and trained by Nasser bin Hamad al Qutaiti, while Barq Al Suwaih finished second and SS R Asila claimed third place.
In the second race for Thoroughbreds, Grylet Alaska, under jockey Issa bin Mohammed al Balushi, crossed the line first, ahead of Redan in second place and Silky Smooth in third. The third race saw Dhiban, ridden by Al Mutasim bin Said al Balushi, secure victory, followed by Rogue Fox and Classic Medal.
The fourth race for Purebred Arabians went to Ihtiraz with jockey Mohammed bin Obaid al Hajri, while Haviyadand Al Murabit S E completed the podium. In the fifth race, Sareh Manlou claimed first place under Hamad bin Sultan al Malki, ahead of Sabri and RB Gifted.
The sixth race witnessed a strong showing by Redha Majan, ridden by Amer bin Ali al Rasbi, who added another victory to his tally during the evening. Al Shahem H2 finished second, while Lucky Boytook claimed third place. Reflecting on his performance, Al Rasbi said that the success was the result of solid preparation and teamwork, noting that consistency and focus were key factors behind the positive results achieved during the meeting.
In the seventh race, Saji Al Zaman secured first place with jockey Mounes bin Salem al Siyabi, followed by Khitab De Fast in second and Nibras in third, in a race that showcased tight competition until the final meters.
The event concluded with the eighth and final race for Purebred Arabian horses, where Mador, ridden by Mazen bin Mubarak al Yahyaei and trained by Marwan bin Darwish al Balushi, claimed first place. RB Bradley Nelson finished second, while RB Free Bird secured third. Commenting on the victory, trainer Marwan bin Darwish al Balushi emphasised that the result reflected the intensive preparation and commitment of the technical team, praising the overall level of competition and describing the race as a positive indicator for the upcoming stages of the season.
For his part, jockey Mazen bin Mubarak al Yahyaei expressed his satisfaction with winning the final race of the evening, highlighting the importance of teamwork between jockeys, trainers and support staff. He added that concluding the event with a victory carried special significance and provided strong motivation for future races.
The 14th race at Al Rahba reaffirmed the continued growth and competitiveness of horse racing in the Sultanate of Oman, underlining the role of Al Rahba Racecourse as a key venue in developing jockeys, trainers and horses, while delivering high quality racing events throughout the season.
