Muscat: Seeb Club tightened their grip on the First Division Volleyball League title after defeating Al Bashayer in straight sets in the final, held at the main hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher amid a large crowd and festive atmosphere.
The victory secured Seeb’s fourth consecutive league title, underlining the team’s technical superiority and consistency in recent seasons. Al Bashayer settled for second place, while Majees claimed third, as the league concluded under the auspices of Eng Hamad bin Ali al Nazwani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Housing.
AL BASHAYER TAKE EARLY LEAD
The first set began evenly, with Al Bashayer taking an early lead through a solid block by Mohammed al Saifi followed by a successful attack from their Iranian professional Daniel. However, Seeb quickly responded through a powerful serve from Ismail al Haidi and a service error by Falah al Jaradi.
As rallies intensified, Seeb imposed their attacking rhythm. Adam al Jalboobi scored smartly through a precise setting, while Russian professional Bogdan delivered consecutive spikes to stretch the lead to 10–5. Despite attempts from Osama al Maamari to bring Al Bashayer back into the contest, Seeb maintained control through the efforts of Saud al Maamari to take the set 25–19.
Al Bashayer entered the second set aggressively, racing ahead with a strong serve from Russian player Evgenis Tern and a quick point by Yousef al Abri to open a 7–2 advantage. But Seeb’s experience gradually showed. Al Haidi reduced the gap with a series of powerful hits, while Saud al Maamari and Younis al Ameri restored balance.
With the score tied at 21–21, Seeb handled the decisive moments better, as Al Ameri struck a crucial point followed by another from Al Haidi to seal a thrilling set 26–24.
The third set followed a similar script of intensity and close competition, with both teams trading the lead until the score was level at 20–20. However, Seeb’s experience once again proved decisive in the crucial moments, as they closed out the set 25–22 to seal the championship in deserved fashion.
MAJEES BEAT SOHAR
In the third-place playoff, Majees defeated Sohar in straight sets to claim the bronze medal.
During the closing ceremony, several individual awards were presented. Abdullah al Maqbali (Seeb) became the best libero, Adam al Jalboobi got best setter award, Saud al Maamari and Majees' Hamad al Maamari became best middle blockers (Position 3), from Al Bashayer, Falah al Jaradi and Hood al Jalboubi claimed best outside hitters (Position 4), Seeb's Ismail al Haidi was best opposite spiker (Position 2), while Younis al Ameri was named as the best all-round player.
Al Bashayer coach Sulaiman al Toobi attributed the loss to his players’ lack of experience in finals, noting that tension affected their concentration during key moments. He stressed that the experience would serve as an important lesson for future seasons.
Meanwhile, Seeb coach Jamal al Maamari described the title as the result of collective teamwork and tactical discipline, praising his players’ focus and ability to handle pressure, while highlighting the importance of administrative stability and support behind the team’s continued success.
