MUSCAT: With dozens of countries represented with their cultures, authentic cuisines, the Muscat Nights, which is due to get over by January 31, is depicting a global village with all its vivacity.
Buoyed by the success of the Muscat Nights 2025 version that attracted 1.7 million people, the 2026 edition that has been aiming at attracting more than 2 million people from across the continents, the one-month long Nights represents a strategic alignment with Oman Vision 2040, positioning Muscat as a vibrant tourism and cultural hub on the global stage.
The expansion to eight distinct venues ensures that every visitor—whether you’re a culture enthusiast, adventure seeker, family traveller, or gastronomy lover—will find experiences tailored to your interests.
The Global Village at Al Qurum Natural Park offers an authentic journey through some of the world’s best stories of the past and allows the visitors to wander through recreated traditional markets where vendors demonstrate centuries-old crafts—silver-work, pottery, weaving, and the intricate art of creating their traditionally valued objects.
The host country, the Sultanate of Oman, is showcasing the best kept secrets of the land that make it unique. The ceremonial Omani daggers and the aroma of frankincense that mingles with freshly ground Arabic coffee as storytellers share tales of ancient maritime trade routes that once made Oman the gateway between East and West.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Türkiye, Tanzania, the Philippines, Thailand, Palestine, Sudan, Kenya, Lebanon, Georgia, France, the Netherlands and the US are some of the countries that are represented at the Muscat Nights.
Each country is hosting their own traditional festivals for a week or more with all its hues and attractions. The Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat recently organised a ‘Thai Festival in Oman 2026’, at a garden by the lake of Al Qurum Natural Park in collaboration with Muscat Nights, Ministry of Culture of Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand where the visitors were allowed to experience the essence of Thainess, art and culture along with the business potentials.
'The Muscat Nights venues for showcasing our tradition and culture as well as the cuisines, has been a great platform for the nation as it gives us a global view to the country as well as its distinct features,' said a Thai Embassy representative.
The festival brought together the beauty of Thai arts and culture, performances showcasing Thai identity by artists from the country where its exquisite cuisine, products such as green halal products, food and beverages, spa products and cosmetics, jewellery, handicraft and textiles were featured.
With every country in the limelight that features its true identity to the world, the venues of Muscat Nights are the mirrors kept against the world transforming itself into a hotspot of diverse tradition and cultures.
Drone Championship
Muscat Municipality has announced the Muscat Nights Drone Championship to be held from January 29 to 31 at Mall of Muscat, as part of Muscat Nights 2026.
It will feature competitive races and aerial demonstrations, bringing together professional pilots and drone enthusiasts in a high-energy setting that highlights precision, speed and advanced control skills.
The drone championship complements Muscat Nights 2026, which also features large-scale drone shows. According to the civic body, up to 2,000 drones take to the skies each evening to deliver choreographed displays that narrate the identity, values and transformations of Muscat governorate.
