The evening that showered Qawwali rains

 

The Al Qurum Natural Park venue of the ongoing Muscat Nights witnessed dews of Qawwali music being showered on the packed crowd that braved the cold chill recently.
The Sufi devotional music, which traces its origins to the Indian subcontinent, evoked divine love and ecstasy as it featured intense vocals, harmoniums, tabla and rhythmic clapping.
Organised by the Pakistan Social Club in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan, the soul-stirring Qawwali Night at the Open Theatre of the Muscat Nights Festival received an overwhelming response, with an audience of over 4,000 people, making it one of the most memorable and highly attended cultural evenings in the history of Muscat Nights.


The evening was spiritually uplifting and culturally enriching, featuring mesmerising performances by renowned Qawwals Ustad Fareed Ayaz and Janab Abu Muhammad, along with their brothers, whose magical renditions of classical Qawwali kept the audience captivated throughout the programme.
The performance created an atmosphere filled with devotion, harmony and cultural pride. The programme, which commenced at 8 pm and concluded at 10.30 pm, received standing ovation and appreciation from the audience, reflecting the tremendous success of the event.

The organisers of the event held under the auspices of Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah included Mohammad Nadeem Azeemi, Chairman; Zahid Shakoor, Vice Chairman; Imran Toor, Finance Director; Kashif Ahmed Zaeem, General Secretary; Mohammad Kaleem Akhtar, Joint Secretary; Shaandar Bokhari, Director; and Azra Aleem, Director, along with other committed volunteers whose collective efforts ensured seamless coordination.
The sponsors, who made the Qawwali event possible included Haseena Jewellers, Friendi Mobile, Ravi Restaurant, Pizza Modo, Riyal Tikka and Mian Riaz; and Partner and the singers appreciated their continued support in promoting cultural activities and community engagement in the Sultanate of Oman.
This Qawwali Night has been described by the audience as a historic and landmark cultural event in the history of Muscat Nights that celebrates unity, spirituality and the rich cultural traditions of the participating countries, while strengthening cultural ties between communities in Oman.
