SOHAR: The Oman Football Association (OFA) and Jindal Steel signed a strategic partnership agreement on Thursday, extending over two football seasons, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation with the private sector and support the development of football in the Sultanate of Oman.
The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding signed by both parties at Jindal Steel’s headquarters in Sohar late last year and formalises the collaboration into a long-term strategic partnership.
Under the agreement, Jindal Steel will support Oman’s Elite League, branded as the Jindal League, establish specialised centres for the development of promising players, and launch a new competition to be held for the first time. The initiatives aim to enhance youth development structures and improve pathways for the identification and nurturing of football talent.
Following the signing ceremony, guests visited the Fan Zone, which featured activities and programmes for spectators and remained open until the conclusion of the Jindal League match between Sohar Club and Samayil Club.
The Oman Football Association (OFA) commended this strategic partnership, emphasising its importance in supporting the development of the game. This was highlighted in a speech delivered during the ceremony by Eng Qutaiba bin Mubarak al Ghailani, Vice-Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, in which he expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) for its continued support and encouragement of such agreements that serve Omani sport in general and football in particular.
The Association also praised its partnership and cooperation with Jindal Steel, valuing the company’s role in supporting Omani football and expressing its aspiration for further fruitful collaboration with the leading company in the Sultanate of Oman, in a manner that contributes to achieving the partnership’s objectives and serving the nation’s most popular sport
