The Muscat Nights International 3×3 Basketball Tournament continued at Al Araimi Boulevard with another day of high-tempo action and competitive matchups, as teams from Oman and across Asia delivered energetic performances that highlighted the speed, intensity and skill of the 3×3 format.
Philippines secure opening win
The Philippines started their campaign strongly with a convincing 14–6 victory over India’s KSK Ballers. Elijah Calara led the charge with an early scoring burst, helping his side establish control from the opening minutes. Supported by Alarcon and Macaliano, the Filipino team maintained steady offensive pressure and widened the gap despite India’s attempts to fight back, eventually sealing a comfortable win.
Omani derby goes to Oman (B)
In an all-Omani clash, Oman (B) edged Oman (A) 18–12 in a highly competitive derby. Oman (A) made a brighter start through Abdulrahman al Shaaibi, who scored three early points to give his team the advantage. However, Oman (B) responded quickly, with Ahmed al Sinani and Abdulrahman al Maamari leading the comeback.
The match turned into an end-to-end battle with both sides trading baskets, but Oman (B) capitalised in the final minute with decisive shots and defensive stops to pull away and secure the victory.
Oman (A) bounce back against the Philippines
Oman (A) quickly regained momentum with an impressive 18–12 win over the Philippines in a balanced encounter. The game remained level for much of the first half before Oman took control midway through, thanks to key contributions from Mishal and Ahmed al Halhali, who converted crucial free throws and fast-break opportunities. The hosts maintained their composure late on to close out the match.
Women’s competition
In the women’s matches, India’s Mazaa Ahmedabad defeated Oman (A) 14–6 after taking control early with a series of quick baskets. Despite efforts from Shams Al Doha and Roba al Kalbani to reduce the deficit, the Indian side maintained its rhythm and finished strongly.
Meanwhile, Iran claimed an 18–10 victory over Oman (B). Led by Elina and Shadi, the Iranian team built an early lead and controlled the tempo throughout the contest. Oman showed determination through Ghadeer, Sarah and Malak, but Iran’s experience proved decisive.
Rodrigo Desiatco, Team Manager of the Philippines, praised the tournament’s organisation and the hospitality of the Oman Basketball Association. He described the event as an important opportunity for international competition and affirmed that his team arrived in Muscat aiming to compete seriously and challenge for top positions.
He added that 3×3 basketball demands speed, focus and intensity in every possession, making the tournament both challenging and exciting for all participating teams.
