CAIRO: The Sultanate of Oman on Thursday took part in the 29th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information, held in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Omani delegation was headed by Abdullah bin Nasser al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, acting on behalf of Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
The meeting discussed ways to develop the sector of telecommunications and information technology in Arab countries, keep pace with the rapid global digital transformations and consolidate joint Arab cooperation in areas of modern technology.
Al Rahbi outlined the progress made recently by the Sultanate of Oman in the fields of communications and information technology, noting that those efforts covered the development of communications infrastructure, the expansion of broadband and fibre optic networks, the digitisation of government services and the consolidation of data governance with a view to boosting digital transition and sustainable development process. — ONA
