MUSCAT: The final match of the His Majesty’s Cup football is likely to take place at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, according to some reliable sources. The match, most probably will be held in February and ahead of the holy month of Ramadhan.
The decision, which will be finalised in coming few days to be announced officially by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, might bring the prestigious domestic football final back to the iconic venue, renowned for hosting landmark matches in Omani football history. The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex has long been associated with major finals and memorable moments making it a fitting stage for the season’s showpiece encounter.
Four clubs have secured their places in the semifinals of the competition: Seeb, Al Nasr, Oman Club, and Al Nahda, underlining the competitive nature of this year’s edition.


The first leg matches of the semifinals concluded on Tuesday night as Oman Club defeated Al Nasr by 2-0 at Seeb Stadium while Seeb edged Al Nahda by 1-0 at the same venue. The return legs are scheduled for January 29.
Al Nahda will host Seeb at the Al Buraimi Sports Complex, while Al Nasr will welcome Oman Club at Al Sadaa Stadium with both ties expected to draw significant attention as the teams battle for a place in the final.
The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex last hosted the His Majesty’s Cup final in 2023, when Al Nahda faced Seeb in a historic encounter. Al Nahda emerged victorious to claim their first-ever title and marking a milestone moment in the club’s history.
In recent years, the final has travelled across the Sultanate of Oman, reflecting the competition’s nationwide appeal.


In 2025, the final was held at the Ibra Sports Complex, where Al Shabab secured their maiden title with a 1-0 victory over Seeb. In 2024, Khasab Sports Complex hosted the final, as Dhofar defeated Al Nahda 2-0 to lift their 11th title. Earlier editions saw Al Rustaq Sports Complex host the 2020 final, where Dhofar edged Al Oruba on penalties after a goalless draw, while Sur Sports Complex staged the 2015 final, won by Al Oruba with a 2-0 victory over Sur.
Historically, Dhofar Club remained the most successful side in the competition, topping the honours list with 11 titles, followed closely by Fanja with nine. Al Nasr and Ahli Sidab have each lifted the trophy five times, while Sur, Al Oruba and Seeb have claimed four titles apiece. Al Suwaiq have won the cup three times, with Oman Club and Saham sharing two titles each. Muscat, Al Talea, Al Nahda and Al Shabab have each won the coveted trophy once.
