Over 31,000 workers booked for violations; 50,000 private sector jobs in 2026

 

The Ministry of Labor, in its annual media meeting on Wednesday, is reviewing the achievements and initiatives of the last year.

It will also discuss the future directions for the labor sector and human resources development.

Highlights

The priority of the labor market and employment during the years 2028-2029 is empowering national competencies through freelance work platforms and institutional partnerships to employ competencies in priority economic sectors and empower national cadres to occupy supervisory, specialized, and technical positions in the private sector.

The Eleventh Five-Year Plan 2026-2030 includes strategic programs that align with future trends in the labor market, reaching 17 programs distributed across three priorities, including 12 programs in the labor market and employment.

Over 31,000 workers were caught during 15,000 inspection visits by labour welfare teams for violating regulations. 

 More than 48 government units are participating in the electronic platform on the Ejada platform for human resources management, and more than 80,000 employees are benefiting from the platform.

The Ejada system for measuring individual performance and institutional excellence has achieved outstanding positive results.

45 government services were approved for excellent performance efficiency, 17 government units were honored for their outstanding performance, and 67 government units fully implemented the system. 

More than 141,000 establishments are registered in the Wage Protection System, and more than 91,000 establishments are compliant.

The compliance rate among large establishments has reached 99.8%.

In 2026, 60,000 job opportunities will be provided, including 10,000 in the government sector, 33,000 in the private sector, and 17, 000 through national training and qualification programs.

36,413 job opportunities were provided in 2025, alongside 15,069 job opportunities through training programs linked to employment and replacement.

Digital transformation has contributed to enhancing the efficiency of procedures.

Provided 13,000 job opportunities in 2025 through 18 committees in various sectors, registered 2,300 professionals within the freelance work system, and replaced more than 4,000 expatriates in technical and leadership positions.

The 50,000 jobs required to be provided in the private sector during 2026 will be distributed across two categories: Some by replacement in the oil and gas, logistics, and tourism sectors, and some directly or through wage support or training.

2,000 individuals from low-income families were employed in 2025, and they will have priority in competing for private sector employment opportunities in 2026.

The number of job seekers varies depending on the timing of data updates, reaching around 75,000 by the end of November.

Nearly 5,000 to 6,000 job seekers from distressed families, and nearly 2,000 have been employed in 2025.
