Winners of Sultan Qaboos Quran Competition feted

The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, on Wednesday, felicitated winners of the Sultan Qaboos Quran Competition in its 33rd edition, under the auspices of Shaikh Al Fadhl bin Mohammed al Harthy, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers.
Habib bin Mohammed al Riyami, Chairman of Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, was also present.
The competition comprised 7 levels. The ceremony featured a visual presentation highlighting key stages of the competition during both the preliminary and final phases. It is worth noting that the current edition of the competition comprises seven levels: Level One (complete memorisation of the Holy Quran), Level Two (memorisation of twenty-four consecutive parts/Juz'), Level Three (memorisation of eighteen consecutive parts), Level Four (memorisation of twelve consecutive parts), and Level Five (memorisation of six consecutive parts). Level Six involves memorisation of four consecutive parts, and Level Seven involves memorisation of two consecutive parts.
Mohammed bin Said al Ghammari, who bagged the first prize in Level 1 alongside many other top achievers across different age and memorisation categories, were given awards for their dedication to Quran memorisation.
Organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, the competition aims to encourage Omanis to memorise the Holy Quran and follow its teachings and seeks to groom a generation of Holy Quran bearers who would be advocates of benign deeds and active partners in reforming the nation.
The competition was held in multiple levels, from memorising two parts to the entire Quran, with regional qualifiers held across Oman.
The preliminary rounds of the 34th edition would begin around August/September while the main event, including the announcement of winners and awards ceremony, are likely to be held in December.
